It seems that the worst of Covid 19, although very much still in our midst, is being dealt with efficiently and Malta is coming to life again. Things are certainly looking brighter.
Next year is going to be another busy one for the Club as several projects need and will be taken in hand. The much-needed work on repairing the terrace garden on the first floor, and surrounding corridor and ceiling in the Pétanque room, is being seen to with urgency.
Additionally, the lifts are also on the list of priorities; they will be replaced in due course but meantime it is planned to provide a better service. Initial discussions for the possibility of adding two floors to the Club’s present block have started with the Club’s bicentennial anniversary in 2026 as our target dateline. An EGM on this will be held at the appropriate time.
As promised, we will be saying a big “thank you” to our Members who, despite being officially shut down by the authorities, continued to renew their Membership in 2021.
From time to time most places, even our own homes, need a facelift and this also applies to our Club. Various sections of our premises are being given maintenance and uplift considered to be necessary: our dining room/ cafeteria is also being looked into in this respect. Hopefully, all will be able to be taken in hand this coming year. We hope that all the works undertaken will not inconvenience members too much.
We appeal to our Members who do not make use of the Club’s restaurant as much as we would like. Those Members who do frequent the restaurant agree that the food is very good and reasonably priced. Regular use of the restaurant would go a long way to giving the area the atmosphere of an active Club and it’s Members.
We are once again this year celebrating Christmas Eve Mass followed by an early breakfast. We will not be holding a New Year’s Eve Dinner dance but instead will be offering New Year’s Day Lunch. This year we will have an animator present so that children can attend and join in the fun.
For both events we require a minimum number of bookings as soon as possible otherwise we will have to cancel the event.
At least we can end on a positive note this year. We also would like to give a big welcome to all our new members.
The Chairman and all the members of the Committee of Management convey seasonal greetings and good wishes to all our members for Christmas 2022 and the New Year 2023.
